Word of the Day

Vocabulary It has been said that about 70% of the words in the English language have more than one meaning. This year, we are going to have a focus on developing our vocabulary to help our spoken language, our reading comprehension and our story writing. Each week year 3 and 4 and year 5 and 6 will have a word of the week to discuss and to see how many different ways they can use that word. To make life a bit more interesting, each week the best sentence per class will be read out in Thursday's celebration assembly and certificate will be awarded for the winning sentence in each year group. We'd love parents and families to get involved too so each week we will Tweet the words of the week so you can play along at home too!

Eco team

The Eco council have spoken to the children today about Christian Aid and how we can help support people in danger or need around the world. We reflected on how we might feel if we were in their situation. What can we do around school to help the environment. Eco team said we could recycle our rubbish more, put things in the right bins. When we have eaten our fruit we could put it in the fruit waste bin then take it outside to turn into compost. When we go out of a room for lunch or playtime we turn off the lights.
