Our Commitment to Eco & Sustainability

At our school, caring for the environment is part of everyday learning. We are proud to be taking practical steps to help our children understand how their choices can make a positive difference to the world around them.

We actively promote sustainability through hands-on projects and whole-school initiatives, which are led by our peer elected eco councillors from Years 2 to Years 6.  As a school, we are actively:

  • Working towards building an eco-greenhouse made from recycled plastic bottles, where we will grow our own produce to use in the school kitchen.
  • We encourage healthy, low-carbon travel through our WOW Walk to School initiative. We engage in "count your carbon " data collection during the month of February.

  • We monitor the air quality at the front and rear of school through our air quality monitor and share the results to try and make improvements where possible
  • Explore and learn outdoors through Forest School
  • Promote sustainable travel habits as part of our ModeShift STARS programme, where we have recently achieved a “Good” accreditation.

  • Recycle wherever possible and actively encourage our pupils to reduce waste, reuse materials, and care for the environment as part of daily school life.
  • Taking part in the Batteries to Read scheme, recycling old batteries to help reduce waste while supporting reading resources for our school.

Together, we are nurturing environmentally aware, responsible learners for the future.
